Learn to Skip With MR.F

Hey Thunderbird's! Welcome to our second online unit together. For this unit you will need a skipping rope. I will be at school Wednesday (May 6th) from 9-12 to hand out ropes for you to keep.

For our first skipping lesson we are practicing our jumping.

1. Double bounce 50-100

2.Single bounce 50-100

3. Jogger stop 50-100

Lesson 2 Using The Skipping Rope

Hopefully by now you have a skipping rope, if not email me directly and I can leave one out for you at John Maclure to pick up and keep.

This lesson is about getting used to the rope going over our heads and under our feet. If you already have the hang of it you can start practicing your skipping.

My son Marek really wanted to be a part of the fun. He says hi.

Lesson 3: Run Skip and the Backwards Skip

Two different skipping types. Run Skip, one foot in front of the other.

Backward Skip is have the rope in front of you and go the opposite way.

Lesson 4: Tricks: Bell and Skier

I think it would be fun to learn some neat tricks.

So lets try a few out. Today we will be learning and practicing the Bell and the Skier.

Bell is forwards and back.

Skier is side to side.

You can either single or double jump, up to you.

Lesson 5: Side Swing & Double Side Swing

For this Lesson we are learning 2 new tricks. Side Swing and the Double Side Swing. Make sure you and keeping each handle in each hand so it is easy to bring together and separate.

Lesson 6: Front Straddle & Side Straddle

For these next two moves make sure you practice your footwork without a rope before hand. When you feel comfortable your feet can make those motions then try with a skipping rope. If things become too challenging try starting at the basics and practice your single bounce.

Lesson 7: 180 and 360

This is a two in one. Remember when you do your first 180 you are now skipping backwards. If skipping backwards is hard for you make sure to practice the basics first.

Lesson 8: Elevator

For this lesson we have going to start jumping straight up, as we jump we will bend our knees and proceed to get lower. This jump is easier when doing single bounce .

Lesson 9: Cowboy/Cowgirl

This one is my favorite, it's silly and fun! Skipping this move is different then the usual. One hand hod the rope while the other is rotating around the body.

Lesson 10 (The Last One)

Double Under

The last skipping trick and the hardest one we are going to try, the double under.

The double under is when you jump once but get the rope under you two times. It's a challenging one!
